Ibase Mini-ITX SBC aims "long-life" Athlons at multimedia apps
Ibase Technology has announced a mini-ITX format single-board computer (SBC) that features a embedded processors and chipsets from AMD. The MI930 is aimed at device-makers requiring enhanced graphics and multimedia performance, and long-term support, according to the company. The MI930 incorporates the M690T chipset AMD introduced last April. This supports various AMD processors via a 1GHz HyperTransport interface, and connects to AMD's SB600 southbridge.
According to IBase, the MI930 also features AMD's 940-pin AM2 socket, which accepts single-core Athlon 64 and dual-core 64 X2 processors. AMD reaffirmed its commitment to the single-core product line in September, releasing the Athlon 64 Models 2000+, 2600+, and 3100+, and promising to keep them on the market for at least five years.
Integrated graphics on the MI930 is provided by ATI, via the M690T's Radeon X700-based graphics engine. This is said to integrate a transition-minimized differential signaling (TMDS) controller, offering full DirectX 9.0 capabilities on DVI and LVDS displays.
The MI930 also has a plenitude of ports, some of them brought to standard connectors at the edge of the board, others available via onboard headers. Examples of the former, according to the company, include the board's PS/2 keyboard and mouse connectors, COM1 serial port, and a DVI interface. Onboard headers, in contrast, provide access to functionality such as 7.1 channel audio and the built-in SATA II controller.
Features and specifications listed by Ibase for the MI930 include:
